Privacy Policy

NetSights (hereinafter referred to as "the App") is developed by hitto. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use the App.

1. Information Collection and Use

The App prioritizes your privacy. We do not collect, store, or share any personally identifiable information (PII) on our servers. All network diagnostic data generated by the App remains locally on your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it.

Personal Data

The App does not require user registration and does not collect names, email addresses, or phone numbers.

Network Data

The App performs network diagnostics (Ping, Traceroute, Port Scan, LAN Scan, DNS Lookup). The results (IP addresses, hostnames, response times) are displayed to you and stored locally on your device for history management. When using DNS Lookup, queries are sent to the DNS server selected in settings (e.g., System Default, Google, Cloudflare, or Custom). This data is not automatically uploaded to us or any third party, except as described in "Third-Party Services".

2. System Permissions

To function correctly, the App requires specific system permissions. These are used solely for the stated purposes:

  • Local Network Permission: Required to access your local network interface, discover devices (LAN Scan), and perform reachability tests (Ping/Traceroute) on your local subnet.
  • Location Services (Fine Location): On iOS/iPadOS, access to the precise location is required by the operating system to read the Wi-Fi SSID (Network Name) and BSSID. Use of location data is strictly limited to displaying the name of the Wi-Fi network you are connected to. We do not track, record, or transmit your physical coordinates.

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party service to provide enhanced functionality:

  • ipify.org:
    • Purpose: To retrieve your public IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.
    • Data Shared: Your public IP address is sent to ipify.org via an HTTPS request.
    • Privacy: Please refer to ipify.org for more details.

4. iCloud Sync

If "iCloud Sync" is enabled in the settings, your locally saved history and favorites are synced across your own Apple devices using Apple's iCloud service. We (the developer) do not have access to this data.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes.
